My Mastectomy Pillow was, by far, the best gift I received after my lumpectomy and lymph node removal. I used it, day and night, for several months. This mastectomy pillow has the option of the new and improved design that includes a pocket and hot/cold pack. The soft pillow helps ease the ache and discomfort. The heart shape design of this pillow is perfect to easily and comfortably place under one’s arm. The hot/cold pack is filled with organic flax seeds with the option of including organic lavender for aromatherapy. I use an adjustable strap which enables one to move around without constantly trying to keep the pillow in place.

We also have an optional matching seat belt pillow, also called a chemo port seat belt pillow, which is great for one who has a chemo port. Our seat belt pillows provide a cushion between the seatbelt and tender areas as a result of breast surgery, chemo ports, pacemakers, and other chest surgeries. The larger size works well for someone with larger tender areas including tenderness from abdominal surgery. Our seat belt pillows also have two or three velcro straps (depending on the size of the pillow) to secure the pillow on both ends which helps with slipping.

*I use extra soft stuffing, being careful not to overstuff so that it provides a comfortable cushion without adding pressure to the surgery area.
*Each mastectomy pillow has an adjustable ribbon belt enabling one to adjust the length to a comfortable position while keeping the pillow in place.
*The pillow is shaped in a heart to easily fit under the arm.
*Pillows can be machine washed and dried. It is recommended to first put the pillows in a laundry bag with the velcro strips closed before laundering.
*There is an option of a pocket and hot/cold pack. The pocket can hold anything such as a phone or glasses. It is designed to fit the hot/cold pack.
*When used as a cold pack, it helps with inflammation and aches.
*When used as a heat pack, it helps with relaxation of the muscles.
*The hot/cold pack is filled with organic flax seeds with the option of including organic dried lavender.
*I use organic flax seed so that toxic chemicals are not released when heated in the microwave.
*Flax seeds do not form hard clumps during the freezing process. Other commonly used fillers have a high water volume which causes clumping. The higher oil content in flaxseed keeps the seeds flowing smoothly and molds to the area of use.
*The flax seeds have a high oil base which enables it to retain heat longer than other commonly used fillers such as rice, buckwheat, corn, etc. Heat last approximately 30 - 45 minutes. It is reusable and can also be microwaved or frozen over and over again.
*Adding organic lavender is an option for aromatherapy. Lavender has known calming and relaxation properties. It must be noted that some people have sensitivity to scents when going through chemotherapy and might not appreciate the lavender scent.
*All hot/cold packs are lined and double stitched for quality and durability.
*The fabric patterns shown in the picture may differ slightly from the item purchased. Since this is a handmade product, the pattern will depend on the cut and placement of the fabric.
